Extending the outreach of the Asia Society's headquarters in New York are the Society's regional centers, which generate a variety of programs on politics, economic issues, the arts and U.S.-Asia relations, many specifically tailored to meet the concerns of their regional constituencies.

 

 

Northern California

The Northern California Regional Center is uniquely positioned on the edge of the Pacific and the entrance to Silicon Valley. As technology and Asia's growth and development continue to change the face of the world we live in, the Northern California office presents timely and relevant forums for enhancing public understanding of these developments and their impact on the local community.

Southern California

Since its opening in 1980, the Southern California Center in Los Angeles has become a focal point for discussions about the entertainment and media industries and the social, economic and political challenges arising from the penetration of Asia's markets by U.S. companies in those industries.

 

 

Texas

Opened in 1979, the Texas Center presents programs, many in collaboration with the Asian consulates and trade commissions located in Houston, that focus on the city's role as a major international port with strong links to Asia.

Washington D.C.

The Asia Society opened its first regional center in Washington, D.C. in 1970. This center takes advantage of its location in the nation's capital to host public policy discussions among Asian and American decision-makers, scholars and specialists.

 

 

AustralAsia

The AustralAsia Center of the Asia Society opened in 1997. While located in Melbourne, this center's scope includes all of Australia, as well as New Zealand. It represents a significant extension of the Society's presence in the Asia Pacific region.

Hong Kong

Established in 1991, the Hong Kong Center bolsters the Asia Society's commitment to involving Asians in every aspect of its activities and offers approximately 100 programs on the current affairs, history and arts of Asia's many countries and cultures annually.

Philippines

The Asia Society Philippines began in 1999. This center is the country's premier venue for multi-sectoral exchange in the areas of policy, business, arts and culture. Going forward, the center is expanding its program focus and coverage to include all countries in the Southeast Asia region.

Shanghai

Asia Society opened an office in Shanghai in 1999, having managed contacts on an informal voluntary basis since 1995. It is now working to register formally as a legal entity in China, enabling it to raise funds locally under the guidance of a local advisory board. It works in close collaboration with the Hong Kong Center.
